Went to a Thanksgiving party. The conversation mostly revolved around Coke, probably more than 70% of the evening.

One woman there had a friend who used to be a deck hand on small fishing boats. One season he got on a boat with a very abusive captain. When you are at the sea, it's a little dictatorship: the captain is the absolute ruler, and he can make sailors suffer. So this guy, depressed and suffering from the captain's abuse went into the steerage. He went to hide from the abusive crew deep at the bottom of the vessel. Down there, below piles of stuff he suddenly found an old crate of Coke. It was so old, that it had miniature 3 inch bottles that he had never seen before. So he drunk two and he felt better. In fact, he felt really well.
After that night, every time he felt abused, he’d go to the bottom of the steerage and have another small bottle of old Coke. He later figured that it was the original Coke recipe that had cocaine in it, which him feel that good.

Интересно, когда они прекратили добавлять туда кокаин?

"Coca-Cola did once contain an estimated nine milligrams of cocaine per glass, but in 1903 it was removed.[15] After 1904, Coca-Cola started using, instead of fresh leaves, "spent" leaves - the leftovers of the cocaine-extraction process with cocaine trace levels left over at a molecular level.[16][17] To this day, Coca-Cola uses as an ingredient a non-narcotic coca leaf extract prepared at a Stepan Company plant in Maywood, New Jersey.[18] "

я думаю этот рассказ был китч в стиле Pulp Fiction, поэтому он мне и запомнился. Сомневаюсь, что там были бутылки 104х летней давности.
Спасибо за разъяснения :)
